Insert New Section In Word
When working with a word file you may need to insert a new section to break the contents into parts.
Insert new section in word. All word 2016 documents have one section. Under section break types click the next page radio button and click the ok button. Double click in the new section s header space.
Click breaks and select next page from the drop down list. In the new section use the page number format dialog box to set the new page numbering style. Headers and footers are linked separately.
Word features a few built in ways to change up your headers and footers in a document. If you re new to the concept of sections think of a new section as similar to a page break. For example you can pretty easily have different headers and footers for odd and even pages or you can have a different header and footer on the first page.
In the context design tab click the link to previous option in the navigation group. Double click the header or footer on the first page of the new section. Add or edit headers.
The difference is that the new page starts a new section. Choose the start at option to start new numbering in the current section. So first you ll need to create a separate section in the document even if it s just for one page and then you ll need to change the page layout for that new section to landscape orientation.
If you re using headers and footers that are different for each section turn off linking for both header and footer. Page numbering now you need to set the page numbers for each section to start at the number 1. Select the type of section break you want.
