Mental health act forensic sections. Part 3 of act known as the forensic sections deals with patients who have been involved in criminal proceedings. They can do this if you have a mental disorder and need hospital treatment under section 37 of the mental health act 1983. If you are convicted of a crime the courts can send you to hospital instead of prison.
