Pons Section
The pons is comprised of two major components the ventral pons and the tegmentum.
Pons section. The dorsal region containing the cranial nerves and fourth ventricle is the tegmentum while the anterior part with the pontine nuclei and corticospinal and corticobulbar tracts is the base of the pons. The midbrain houses the tegmentum and the tectum. The pons is a subdivision of the brainstem forming a bulbous protrusion at its ventral aspect.
It is sharply demarcated from the medulla caudally and the midbrain rostrally figure 1 left. The ventral pons contains the pontine nuclei which are responsible for coordinating movement. The pons is a portion of the brain stem located above the medulla oblongata and below the midbrain.
The forebrain is comprised of. The forebrain the midbrain and the hindbrain. Bridge is derived from the appearance of the transversely running fiber bundles that connect the two halves of the cerebellum.
The pons is relatively small and it is located in the lower part of the brain connecting the cerebral cortex with the medulla oblongata. Pons cross section through the facial colliculus division of the pons into two parts facilitates understanding its internal arrangement. Although it is small at approximately 2 5 centimeters long it serves several important.
Parts of the brain and the function of pons the brain is comprised of 3 major sections.
