Dark red blood after c section. Occasionally a week or two after your bleeding seems to have stopped you may have a sudden gush of bright red blood. This is all a normal part of the postpartum transition of the uterus. You will begin to experience heavy bleeding of bright red blood this is called lochia and can continue for up to 6 weeks.
It may smell like the blood you typically shed during. You may also notice clotting during the early days of the postpartum period. Right after your c section lochia is bright red.
If you have a vaginal delivery or cesarean section you ll have vaginal bleeding and discharge after birth. Usually the dark blood is just blood that has been in there a while and is finally getting around to coming out. Its not exactly clots as they are not solid it is akin to say runny jelly before it has set or even runnier than that. It s how your body gets rid of the extra blood and tissue in. I have just had my 6th and last c section.
