Five Sections Of The Vertebrae
In this article we shall look at the anatomy of the vertebral column its function structure and clinical significance.
Five sections of the vertebrae. Humans have 7 cervical 12 thoracic 5 lumbar 5 fused sacral and 3 to 5 fused caudal vertebrae together called the coccyx. The vertebral column can be divided into five sections. The vertebral column is characterized by a variable number of curves.
The cervical thoracic lumbar sacrum and coccyx. The vertebrae of the sacrum and coccyx are fused but those of the cervical thoracic and lumbar regions are separated by intervertebral discs. The vertebral column picks up from where the skull ends and goes right down to the lower back.
The vertebral column is a series of approximately 33 bones called vertebrae which are separated by intervertebral discs. The column can be divided into five different regions with each region characterised by a different vertebral structure. It is composed of 31 individual bones called vertebrae and the entire column is divided into 5 sections cervical thoracic lumbar sacrum and coccyx in descending order of location.
