Section Drawing Rules
The arrows on the section line if the drawing is correctly done still point towards the place towards which the virtual person would be looking when they drew or interpreted the sectional view.
Section drawing rules. The basic drawing standards and conventions are the same regardless of what design tool you use to make the drawings. With computed axial tomography computers can construct cross sections. It is traditionally crosshatched with the style of crosshatching often indicating the types of materials being used.
This will save space on the drawing with over population of reference and section views. A section drawing section or sectional drawing shows a view of a structure as though it had been sliced in half or cut along another imaginary plane. Where a design application contains color drawings the application must include the number of sets of color drawings required by paragraph a 2 ii of this section and the specification must contain the reference required by paragraph a 2 iii of this section.
What is a section view. On rare occasions color drawings may be necessary as the only practical medium by which to disclose the subject matter sought to be patented in a utility or design patent application or the subject matter of a statutory invention registration. To prepare a drawing one can use manual drafting instruments figure 12 or computer aided drafting or design or cad.
This holds for first and third angle projection. A section or cross section is a view generated from a part or assembly on a cutting plane or multiple cutting planes that reveals the outlines on the inside or assembly fits. Hatching is generally used to show areas of sections.
General rules for sectioning. Separate areas of the section of the same component shall be hatched in an identical manner. The simplest form of hatching is usually drawn by continuous thin line at a convenient angle preferably 45 to the principal outlines or lines of symmetry of the sections.
When looking at the section line a a the a s represent the arrows. The cross section looks like figure 11 when it is viewed from straight ahead. Black and white drawings are normally required india ink or its equivalent that secures solid black lines must be used for drawings.
