The guidance in this protocol was compiled and agreed by the south yorkshire mental health strategic partnership group section 136 policy task finish group. Mental health act 1983 section 136 is up to date with all changes known to be in force on or before 30 september 2020. Section 136 allows the police to take you to or keep you at a place of safety.
